The Punjab and Haryana High Court last week allowed an appeal filed by a woman seeking enhancement of the amount of compensation received by her on account of the death of her husband.
Her husband, a truck driver, died in a road accident, for which the tribunal awarded compensation of Rs.3,79,000/- to her. While on appeal the High Court redetermined the monthly salary of the deceased and enhanced the compensation to Rs.8,44,508/- along with interest at 7.5% per annum from the date of filing of claim petition till the date of payment of compensation..
